About Christopher Knott
Christopher
Knott was a three-sport letterman throughout high
school and continued playing baseball in college.
When a rotator cuff tear brought his athletic career
to a halt, he decided the next best thing would be
to train athletes. While at Purdue University, he
amassed three Undergraduate degrees (Movement and
Sports Science, Exercise and Fitness, Athletic
Training) and two Masters degrees (Exercise
Physiology, Sports Management) in six years. While
at Purdue, he was hired on to be a strength and
conditioning coordinator for several of their
athletic teams while also creating and teaching the
weight-training curriculum for Purdue students.
During that time, he was also hired to be the US
Olympic strength and conditioning coordinator for
the Rowing teams.
It was during this period of time when Chris became
extremely frustrated with the disconnect in
professions between doctors, therapists, trainers,
and coaches. He witnessed several athletes falling
through the cracks with repeated injuries because
the transition between professions was and continues
to be very incomplete. He began to understand that a
byproduct of becoming extremely specialized in one
area limits your ability to transition and see the
need for the whole person. Thus, Chris began a quest
to search out the best professionals in every area
of wellness to learn the cutting edge practices and
put them together in a comprehensive approach to
fitness and wellness.
When the Colorado Rockies baseball team saw how
quickly Chris was returning athletes with injuries
back to optimal playing ability as well as
preventing future injuries, they asked him to become
a part of their strength and conditioning program.
Chris and his family moved to Colorado to work with
the Rockies where they eventually settled in
Colorado Springs.
Christopher currently runs his own sports
performance and wellness studio in Colorado Springs
where he works with the whole person: physically,
mentally, emotionally, and sometimes even
spiritually. Whether it is cutting edge performance,
basic weight loss and nutrition, or complete
wellness, the quest for continued learning never
stops as we continue to treat the complete person.
Thus for Chris, Functional Medicine and The Wellness
Prescription was a perfect fit in treating the body
as a whole.
